New Study On ADHD: Coping Well

A new study shows on ADHD – one of my favorite topics – shows that by adulthood, most ADHD boys adjust well to life compared to non-ADHD boys.

I was an ADHD child, so this should tell you something about my leanings. This is a very important subject to me, and I am, as many of you know, quite opposed to drugging all these kids into submission.

The new study, from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, looked at a total of 36 boys, half of whom had ADHD.

The ADHD boys tended to be equal to their counterparts when it came to employment or legal problems. They did tend, however, to have persistent psychological problems in some areas, due to their hyperactivity.

I can relate to this. I've made a lot of hyperactive decisions in my life. Some of them were horrible decisions. But ADHD is also responsible for a lot of greatness in individuals.

Look at our visionaries, our leaders, our artists. As a society, we need people like this. So it's important that we don't take anyone who's special and drug them (into submission).
